Research Network and Institucional Cooperation

The TCS Research Group maintains an intense activity of academic collaboration at international and national level, as well as with other research groups of the Catalan university system.

This collaboration translates into research projects in areas of common interest, joint organization or participation in conferences and workshops, collaboration at doctoral or master's level, scientific publications and other relevant activities for the parties involved.

The research group also maintains stable collaborative relationships with governments at different territorial levels or with centres linked to these public administrations.

Local governments:

Collaboration with local governments is carried out through specific structures linked to the research group, namely: CEDAT, the Chair of Local Legal Studies and, CEDAT (www.cedat.cat) is co-funded by the Tarragona City Council; the Màrius Viadel y Martín Chair of Local Legal Studies (/catedres/catedra-estudis-juridics-locals-marius-viadel-martin/) is co-funded by the Tarragona Provincial Council (Diputació de Tarragona); and the Tarragona Smart Mediterranean City Chair (http://www.tarragonasmart.cat/mediterranean-city/projectes-estrategics/catedra-2/) is co-funded by Fundación Tarragona Smart Mediterranean City (the Tarragona Smart Mediterranean City Foundation). We work also with the Barcelona Provincial Council (Diputació de Barcelona.

Regional government:

The Group cooperates regularly with the Catalan government's Land and Sustainability Department in various activities, including the joint publication of Revista Catalana de Dret Ambiental since 2010. The group now also works with the regional government in the joint organisation of the Catalan Environmental Law Conference.

Spanish government:

The group regularly works with Centro Internacional de Estudios de Derecho Ambiental (CIEDA, the International Centre of Environmental Law Studies) that depends on the Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas (CIEMAT, the Energy, Environmental and Technological Research Centre), a public research organisation attached to the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness. Various members of the TCS group are members of the editorial board of Revista Actualidad Jurídica Ambiental, which is published by CIEDA, and they work with it regularly, furnishing commentaries on case-law of environmental interest from the Spanish Supreme Court and the high courts of justice of the Spanish regions.
